SYFY wanted to create fun, holiday inspired social posts/reels to capture viewers over the holidays and lead them to stream their programming on Peacock. I had the insane privilege to play with Chucky. After some brainstorming, we landed on this short story about Chucky being returned - an unhappy soul who had received the worst Christmas gift ever. SYFY's other ask was for an out-of-the-box approach, something beyond just animation. I had the idea to return to a technique I first used a few years ago - scanning in dozens of actual handmade colored pencil textures to sell the illusion that this is all stop-motion coloring pages.
